Louisville, KY (February 25, 2008) – Evidence in Motion, LLC, and Fit for Work, LP, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement whereby Fit for Work will sell a majority stake in its business to Evidence in Motion for an undisclosed sum.
Evidence in Motion is a privately held education and business practice consultation company that partners with and equips physical therapy practices and individual professionals with the resources and training necessary to become leaders in delivering high quality physical therapy health care using the most current and advanced research to achieve the best results in the most efficient manner.
Fit for Work contracts directly with both large and small employers to provide occupational health and safety services such as injury prevention, early intervention, ergonomic evaluation, functional capacity evaluation, rehabilitation, OSHA compliance programs and safety training. Their clients include very well established companies such as Frito Lay North America and H. E. Butt Grocery Company (H-E-B).
Commenting on the transaction, George Burkley, Evidence in Motion's CEO, said, "The genesis of our merger is hinged on a shared belief that there exist a great opportunity to improve the well-being of our society by addressing the health and safety of individuals in their workplace. By collaborating with employers and their employees to design and implement programs that reduce workplace injuries, we can help improve the quality of life of individuals and the performance of organization, all while helping reduce the cost of healthcare. Fit for Work and Evidence in Motion share a strategic vision of growing and developing the direct employer health care contracting business. Direct employer contracting in occupational health care is just the first step in our growth. The combination makes great strategic sense for both companies."
Tom Tobin, Fit for Work's CEO, commented, "When we started, our goal was to change the way that occupational health care was provided. We consider employers as supply chain partners because they are the most important health care payer in the United States, both thru work-related injuries and their commercially insured businesses that cover employees and their families. Employers know that we are a committed partner whose interests are aligned with theirs.”
“Because Evidence in Motion has developed strategic relationships with high quality physical therapy practices around the country, we can now scale our business model nationally. By aligning Fit for Work franchises with Evidence in Motion’s trusted high quality network of outpatient physical therapy providers, Fit for Work partners can deliver the same high quality occupational health services that our clients in Texas have received for the past 10 years,” said Tobin.
Fit for Work will continue to service all of its current operations in the greater San Antonio and Austin, Texas regions.

About Fit for Work, LP
Fit for Work is a privately held Occupational Health and Industrial Medicine practice developed around a model of prevention and early intervention. Founded in 1998, Fit for Work has continuously sought to provide large and small employers alike with a non-traditional service model. This model combines a progressive approach to injury prevention and treatment with an underlying proven belief that putting the right worker in the right place in as safe a manner as possible will result in decreased costs, decreased injuries, increased profitability and increased productivity. Additionally, our approach to early intervention has not meant “getting on an injury quickly”, but instead was developed to identify the early signs and causes of injury and to intervene before conditions deteriorate. Through this aggressive model, Fit for Work has been able to partner with their industrial clients in a manner that has significantly improved safety performance and positively affected employee health while reducing costs and injuries by over 60% in almost every case. We seek to truly change the way that healthcare is provided on a broad spectrum and create a perpetual wave of change starting first with our own environment and extending out to those with whom we are proud to partner.
