The owner of a Dallas medical supplies company has been sentenced to 24 months in jail by a federal court for making false claims to Medicare, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Northern District of Texas.

The defendant, Rafayel Movsesyan, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated identity theft, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said this week.

Movsesyan is accused in court documents of opening Beltline Medical Supplies Inc. in 2007 and sending in more than $1 million in false claims to the Medicare program.

The U.S. Attorneys office said Beltline Medical received more than $166,000 as a result of the claims.

An attorney for Movsesyan could not immediately be reached for comment.
